About Us
Built Around What Good Advisory Actually Looks Like
Mardock was founded with a specific conviction: that most growing companies need senior-level thinking, not another process framework.

From Practitioners, for Companies That Are Building
Mardock was established in Hong Kong by a group of practitioners who had each spent significant time on the other side of the table — working inside companies rather than advising them from the outside. That experience shaped a clear view of where consulting actually helps, and where it tends to fall short.
The firm focuses on three areas where growth-stage companies consistently benefit from external input: preparing for fundraising, managing financial complexity without a full-time CFO, and documenting the operational knowledge that accumulates inside a business as it scales. These are not adjacent programmes — they reflect a deliberate choice to work deeply in a defined space rather than broadly across everything.
Since opening the Admiralty office, Mardock has worked with companies across technology, professional services, logistics, and consumer sectors. The common thread is not industry — it's a particular stage of development, and a leadership team that is willing to work seriously on the underlying structure of the business.
Mission
To provide substantive, senior-level consulting that leaves companies more capable and better oriented — whether they are heading into a fundraise, managing a period of rapid growth, or putting systems in place before their next phase.
How We Work
Each engagement is scoped clearly before it begins. We agree on what we will deliver, in what timeframe, and what that requires from you. We work closely with founders and senior management rather than operating at arm's length.
Values
Directness, discretion, and craft. We say what we think. We protect the information entrusted to us. And we care about the quality of the work itself — not just whether the engagement ends on time.
The Team
People With Operating Experience
Each consultant has held senior roles inside companies — not just as advisors. That background informs how we approach each engagement.
Helena Wong
Managing Director
Fifteen years across corporate finance and CFO roles in Hong Kong and Singapore. Led financial function for two companies through Series B rounds and one through pre-IPO preparation.
James Lau
Principal Consultant
Background in operations and strategy at a regional logistics firm and later as COO at a fintech startup. Specialises in process documentation and operational readiness engagements.
Rachel Chan
Senior Advisor
Previously Director of Finance at a mid-size professional services firm. Brings strong investor relations and financial modelling capability to Investor Readiness engagements.
Standards
How We Maintain Quality
These are the operational commitments that shape each engagement — not aspirational statements, but processes we follow.
Scoped Engagements
Every engagement starts with a written scope document agreed by both parties. Deliverables, timeline, and dependencies are defined before work begins.
Confidentiality Protocols
Mutual NDAs are standard. Client information is not discussed with other clients, and our internal handling of sensitive materials follows strict protocols.
Review Checkpoints
Each programme includes scheduled progress reviews. These create natural points for feedback and course adjustment before the engagement concludes.
Senior-Led Delivery
Client work is led by the consultants named in the engagement agreement. We do not hand off engagements to junior staff without prior discussion.
Objective Assessment
We hold no commercial relationships with investors, lenders, or vendors that would compromise the objectivity of our advice.
Documented Handoffs
At the end of each programme, we provide a structured handoff: what was delivered, what decisions remain open, and what we recommend as next steps.
Context
Business Consulting in Hong Kong's Growth Sector
Hong Kong's business environment presents a particular set of conditions for growth-stage companies. Capital is available, but the fundraising process is demanding and investors here expect well-prepared founders. Regulatory and reporting standards are high. Operational scaling often runs ahead of the systems needed to support it.
Mardock works inside these conditions rather than applying generic advisory models developed elsewhere. Our consultants understand the expectations of Hong Kong-based and regional investors, the accounting and audit landscape, and the compliance considerations that affect companies at the growth stage.
The three programmes we offer — Investor Readiness, Outsourced CFO Advisory, and Process Documentation — address the specific pressure points that companies in this market tend to encounter between their founding phase and their next significant capital event or organisational expansion. Each is designed to produce tangible, usable output rather than strategic recommendations that sit unimplemented.
